Ordinary Day Week II Advent

GOSPEL: Matthew 11: 11-15

Verily I say unto you, Among those born of women there has not one greater than John the Baptist; yet the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of Heaven invaded and people rushed to try to take it. For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John and - if you want to accept it - he is Elijah who is to come, who has an ear, let him hear!

REFLECTION:

Jesus said that anyone in the kingdom of heaven is greater than John the Baptist! Jesus does not mean that we are all greater than John the Baptist. But let us realize that Jesus here do not talk about how great our achievements (or possible outcomes us), but of so much heavenly inheritance that we receive as citizens of God's kingdom. Are there any of us can really understand how deeply we each be blessed if we believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior?

God does not require us each to become a Baptist. He only asks us to take small steps each day as our response to all the gifts that have been bestowed upon us. As we do every day, then we will achieve the goal of God, and our lives will have an undeniable influence on the Church and in the world around us. It's okay, if we can never achieve as great as John the Baptist. There is a strong-great power in our efforts to achieve small things because it is driven by love to Jesus. God's intentions can be achieved when we proclaim His word, if we love as He asks us to love. His strong-power - which is active through us - can change the world!

Advent This is a moment of renewal and closeness to the presence of God for us and our families, but also for our churches. Let us ask Him to fill us with His Holy Spirit as He fills John the Baptist. Let us immerse ourselves in Christ and in his word. Let us ask the Holy Spirit to establish within each of us the same love, the same humility, obedience the same, as it was given to John the Baptist.

PRAYER:

"Lord Jesus, I intend myself to love you, serve you, obey you, and present myself as a witness of your Gospel. By powerful forces of Your Holy Spirit, may I fulfill Your plan for my life. Amen.
