Ordinary Ordinary Day Week XXIII
Gospel: Luke 11: 37-41

When Jesus finished teaching, a Pharisee invited him to eat with him. He entered the house and sat down to eat. The Pharisee was surprised to see that Jesus did not wash his hands before eating. But God said to him, "O Pharisees, you clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness. O fools, did not He who made the outside, he also made the inside? But give the contents as charity, and then everything will be clean for you. "

REFLECTION:

What we hear in today's word of Jesus criticized the Pharisees. In his special teaching to the disciples, Jesus had warned them: "Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees which is hypocrisy" (Lk 12: 1).

Contemplating the attitude of the Pharisees is not separated from the attitude of their hypocrisy. Then if we compare it with conditions or our times, the hypocrisy of the ruling inspire the emergence of demonstration even a "rebellion". But every generation of "rebels" within a reasonably short period of time will be the generation of a hypocrite as well.

Remember, before a crowd of their demonstration in front of parliament in 1998 against all kinds of corruption and hypocrisy of the other of the rulers at the time, but now - after positions - is no different than those who opposed and criticized by those many years ago. ... It's too easy for people to do a demonstration of protest for the sake of change - "uprising" - to condemn and destroy, but also easily forget its purpose and it is now becoming the new, more powerful hypocrite.

Almost every day we were treated to the news about the people from the government who were tried and imprisoned. The real landscape of concern in front of our eyes. And we do not need to pretend surprised to see depression and despair of young people we are because they see clearly the occurrence of various kinds of duping by those who hold power and the omission of the sins of society by those who should be in charge of keeping all of it with less / rare.

The young people hope of the nation (we) do not inherited hypocritical attitudes of the authorities. They should not be used as embryos "Pharisees" for a future time. And we ourselves do not become "Pharisees" who criticized Jesus, "O Pharisees, you clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and evil ...." Keep hold pretense of honesty. Hate hate and love everyone. Dispose of hypocrisy that is hated by God ....

PRAY:

"Lord Jesus, make us be honest individuals who always uphold the truth. Sadarkanlah us of the dangers of hypocrisy everywhere, but do not also forget the hypocrisy of our culture-our own hypocrisy. Change minds and our hearts and minds so that in line with your will. Amen. "
